Two friends Jake Mc Alistair and Warren Turner first meet at school and grow up together playing sport and sailing together in the summer months on Port Phillip Bay.

They share many experiences and happy times until a tragedy strikes Warren’s family when his much loved mother is killed in a road rage incident on the freeway. The killer is an addict high on Ice at the time and with the aid of a slick lawyer gets off under extenuating and ridiculous circumstances. 

Warren’s dad Gordon is incandescent with rage and tracks the guy down killing him in a violent confrontation. The cops arrest Gordon who is sentenced to a long prison sentence.  

 At the age of fourteen with no extended family Warren is technically an orphan. Jake appeals to his parents and they officially fostered him

A shadow has fallen over the young man who is deeply disturbed by the shocking events. He seems to carry a deeply seated anger which boils up uncontrollable.

The school years are tough but they make it through. Warren’s dad returns home granted parole on good behaviour genuine remorse and his work with fellow prisoners from an eight year stretch in jail hardened and bitter. Warren despite a chequered teen career studies Commerce and Law becoming a solicitor His dad is a big concern with depression and anger management but he continues earning respect with his work as a landscaper.

Jake has been accepted as a boat building apprentice at a famous boat yard and is overjoyed. Warren is more of a problem after leaving school but continues to sail as the boys move through the various classes winning club trophies, state and national champs. 

The boys set their sights high and after taking on a partner purchase a keelboat to contest the notorious Melbourne to Hobart west coast yacht race as a qualifying event for a major blue-water race to Japan. 

They impress the owner of a super-maxi an entrepreneur alleged to be a gangster Edmondo de Luca who wants to recruit them into his crew.

They decline the offer and the following year they take on The Sydney to Hobart one of the toughest blue water events in the world.  Their uninsured boat is lost when they are wiped out by a monstrous rogue wave. After their dramatic rescue Senor Edmondo de Luca is first on the spot offering solace and money if they crew on his twenty million dollar one hundred foot Stiletto the following year.

Next year while in the leading group of maxis Stiletto suffers damage to its rig but due to Jake’s courageous act the boat sails on and is able to finish the race with honour. 

An impressed de Luca takes the boys aside and offers assistance in replacing their sunken boat. 

As professional crew they join de Luca in the UK to contest the famous Fastnet Yacht Race. 

Following the conclusion of the event the boys are offered a gig delivering a luxury yacht across the pacific to Barbados for an associate of de Luca Senor Affonso Biagi.  They are joined midway in Teneriffe by Biagi’s son Giancarlo who has a secret agenda that ultimately costs the life of their sailing companion Martin Collins under very suspicious circumstances. 

In Barbados they eventually take ownership of a yacht sourced by de Luca and set off across the ocean on a trumped up contest devised by de Luca and Biagi to cover up a dark secret that would involve the boys in a deadly trap with no way out. 

With the only options being a long term gaol sentence or death at the hands of gangsters the boys need a miracle to survive.
